bADGERLAND fIELD tARGET cHAMPIONSHIPS

The 2006 Badgerland FT Championships, our 7th Annual event, is now in the "books"......the record books. This was a very quaint match, with a small turnout compared to recent past Regional Badgerland events, but a thorough enjoyment of FT shooting was had by all. Thanks to Frank Barreca and Phil Herman for coming so far for this event. Thanks also to both for bringing their USFTs for us to  view and shoot. Thanks also to Don C. and Kurt D. for last minute show ups....really paid off for Don C. Too bad Kurt's gun blew a valve leak before even getting to the range, although he enjoyed plinking Don C's TX-200 and actually hit many of the targets with just holdover.

The course set up was pretty diverse with some hard lanes, intermixed with some harder lanes and then throw in a couple of even harder lanes. We did have a few impossible lanes, just to balance out the venue and more wind than has ever been had at BAGA. What else would you expect from the guys at the Badgerland club. The last few lanes were real winners, either you got them or you didn't even see them. One you could see the target but was hard to see the KZ (black on black, with some silver pellet dust sprinkled around the entire head)  the other in a tunnel of tree branches, where you could see the KZ, but not any other part of the target.

As usual, the match was followed by some good food and drink with lots of top notch camaraderie. Awards were presented and a lot of ogling of fancy old time 10M hardware and pretty wood...thanks to Vlad's personal collection - nice engraved pea shooter there Vlad!! Nest match is scheduled for Oct 7, with the season ending AZ Monster. This year's monster will be a long one with lots of targets and quite a few new ones with extra large KZs and place out further then normal, but none past 75 yards. see you then.
